PRAYER

Ashford Town Parish is committed to praying with and for one another across our parish and town

Some suggestions are offered below for things we might focus on in praying with and for one another across this parish this month. They could be drawn on by those who lead intercessions in main services as well as by individuals and groups as we pray through the week.

Week beginning 5th September

Lord God we give thanks for all who have taught and guided us, have shared their faith and set us good examples. We ask your blessing on all schools and colleges in the parish as the new academic year begins. May they be places where a love of learning can flourish and each individual’s potential be realised. Amen.

Please pray for Sophie as she begins her work as Parish Mission Enabler – that she would be able to establish good relationships with the different people she meets and build a good understanding of our town and our churches.

Please pray also for Caroline and Nigel as they come to the end of their time at Kingsnorth and prepare for a new chapter in their life together.

Week beginning 12th September

In this season of creation-tide we praise you God for the diversity of life on our planet, for the balance of nature and goodness of the earth. We pray your blessing on areas and creatures that are endangered and on people who are being robbed of their land. Give wisdom to all who influence the future care of the earth. Amen.

Please pray for the PCC meeting on the 18th, as they discuss vision, priorities and goals for the parish for the next five years, and also look at the pattern of service for the rest of the year and our evolving response to Covid-19.

Week beginning 19th September

Loving Lord bless those who have been married in our parish recently. May their lives be strengthened by their love for each other and the abundant love you have for all your children. Help them to reveal your love to those around them by welcoming them and telling them of you. Amen.

Please pray for all involved in supporting young people in our parish, and in particular for the SKY Youth Group as they run Youth Alpha this autumn, and for ARK drama 2000.

Week beginning 26th September

God, we give thanks for the church buildings in which we are able to gather for worship week by week. We pray that we would fulfil our responsibilities for maintaining them with patience and generosity. We ask that for those who might never think of joining us for a service, they might still serve as a sign of your presence amongst us and your welcome that waits for us. Amen.

Please pray for the Ashford Interfaith Group, and for growth in mutual understanding and dialogue between the different faith communities in our town.
